Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Habitat believes that everyone deserves a simple, decent and affordable place to live. Our local Habitat affiliate, Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity, was founded in 1987. We operate three primary programs which are our ReStore, our Homeownership Program and our Home Repair Program.
Habitat for Humanity exists because people are in need of decent and affordable housing everywhere, including right here in Brown County. According to the 2016 Life Study, housing/shelter was the second most (17% of calls) prevalent problem/need identified by Brown County United Way 2-1-1 callers. According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), 20,025 Brown County homeowners (about 30.5%) report having at least one housing problem. A person’s partnership with Habitat means they have a stable place to live. An affordable mortgage (no higher than 23% of their income) means they have a chance to create savings and invest in education. A decent roof over their head establishes home as a place that protects, instead of endangering their health.
